Neil endeavours to make himself available to customers directly should they have any issues they wish to discuss.

Paul Jones BEng PhD MIET
Senior Engineer & Technical Manager

Paul has a degree and a PhD from Cardiff University. His research examined earth-impedance measurements at large area substations, and he developed the UK’s first earth-impedance measurement system.
He then completed a graduate training scheme with National Grid and furthered his experience in substation earthing.

Paul has been with ERM since formation and is our Technical Manager. His responsibilities include the design and computer simulation of earthing systems, and fault current distribution. Paul is the UK expert in the analysis of earth-impedance measurements, and has completed earthing-projects within the gas, petro-chemical and electrified-railway industries.

Matthew Taylor B.Eng PhD MIET C.Eng
Senior Engineer & General Manager

Matthew completed an electrical engineering degree and PhD in Electrical Earthing at Cardiff University, including a sandwich year with SWALEC (now WPD). Matthew has published research internationally and in the UK on the earthing of transmission lines, mobile phone base station earthing and conducted research for the Energy Networks Association ER G78 OSG working group.

A Chartered Engineer, Matthew has 12 years experience across a diverse range of electrical earthing projects and is the UK expert in soil resistivity analysis for electrical earthing applications. Working with ERM since 2005, he is our General Manager, overseeing our daily operations and having responsibility for delivering our earthing assessments and reports.

Robert Knott B.Eng
