Maintenance
Risk assessment indicates that one of the greatest sources of risk to workers and third parties is poor earthing system maintenance.
Poor maintenance can result in increased Rise of Earth Potential and hazardous differences in potential between different parts of an earthing system. Worker and third party risk assessments may become invalid if proper maintenance is not carried out. Electrical system performance may also be affected by an inadequate earthing system.
ERM can undertake most required maintenance associated with earthing systems e.g. re-making joints and refurbishing links. We normally include minor maintenance along with measurement work to realise significant efficiencies for our Customers. Where major maintenance is required e.g. extensive replacement of buried earth electrode, ERM can provide detailed specifications for the required works, monitoring of works and commissioning.
For our maintenance teams, safety is paramount when working on earthing systems. As with testing, understanding the hazards is the key to ensuring safety.
